FEELING PECKISH

You will not go hungry there is such a wonderful array of restaurants and cafes in Broadstairs, we often pay a visit to these ones at least once!

THE ROYAL ALBION is great for anything from a beer/coffee, to a full 3 course meal.  No need to book – just pop in.  Lots of tables inside and out – Overlooking the sea!

POSILLIPO PIZZERIA – If you love good food and a restaurant with a buzz this could be the place for you, again overlooking the sea.  You do need to book.

PREZZO – Again overlooking sea – good food, good service and child friendly. Need to book.  Tables inside and outside.

Lots of fish and chips shops – some you can sit in and have a cuppa at the same time.

NEW VENTURE:  ‘Fish and beer ‘  open    Wed 5pm-10pm       Thurs/Fri 6pm -11pm Sat 3pm – 12am

CHARLES DICKENS  PUB also does food overlooking the sea.

MORELLI’S  GELATO – the first Morella’s ice cream parlour in the UK was opened by Mario on the seafront in Broadstairs in 1932 – still very popular.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT:  Only open on Saturday but the Mad Hatter Tea Room in Margate is worth a visit if only for its eccentricity!  Cake is delicious and you can have it with tea or champagne!

Winter Break – Self Catering in Broadstairs

Why Broadstairs is the best place for a self catering holiday, even off season?

After a busy CBroadstairs Beak House New year Holidayhristmas there is nothing we love more than packing our bags and escaping to Broadstairs to blow away the cobwebs. For the last couple of years we have booked tickets for the Bleak House New Years Eve party and enjoyed a great night of music, fine food and fireworks with friends – fantastic.

A brisk walk along Broadstairs’ beautiful Broadstairs Beach New Years DipViking bay beach was all the more entertaining with the annual ‘Broadstairs New Years Day Dip’ with hundreds of people piling into icy waters for charity! As tempting as it was we decided to watch rather than participate this year!

Broadstairs Dreamland Margate Holiday

The recently fully renovated Dreamland Margate pleasure park in Margate, Kent is perhaps not the most obvious winter destination but off peak they are offering fee entry which offers a great opportunity to go and check out this all new, much anticipated attraction local to Broadstairs. Although we are perhaps not the usual target market we had an enjoyable day at the nostalgic pleasure park combined with lunch at the quirky Mad Hatters tea rooms, which is only open Saturdays but worth a trip just for its bonkersness!

After a festive season of indulgence most people are dieting, however after a fews weeks of entertaining and cooking at Christmas it is nice to let someone else do the hardwork! That is the beauty of a self catering holiday in Broadstairs is not just the usual perks of having your own kitchen, living room and garden to relax in but the smorgasbord of fantastic restaurants, cafes and eateries Broadstairs has to offer.

Whether we go down to Broadstairs for a romantic weekend break or a 1 week family holiday we struggle to choose where to eat simply because there is so much choice. To name just a few of our favourites:

The Alibion – For a good breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a coffee or pint, with a view of Broadstairs beach. Serving a modern English menu with plenty of seafood.   http://www.albionbroadstairs.co.uk/

Posillipo – Fantastic Italian with a buzzy atmosphere inside and alfresco dining with a lovely view over the sea. http://www.posillipo.co.uk/

Bleak House – Afternoon tea served in ‘The Great Expectations Dining Rooms’ with a view over Viking Bay, Broadstairs is particularly recommended when enjoyed with a glass of bubbles!  http://www.bleakhousebroadstairs.co.uk/

Star of the Sea – Crowned the best fish and chips in Kent, we have to agree. Simple British fish and chips done well. http://fishandchipsbroadstairs.co.uk/

So if you love eating out but also want the option of rustling up a little something in a fully equipped, modern kitchen of your own then we can highly recommend going self catering in Broadstairs as you get the best of both worlds.

We particularly love our central Broadstairs location which with a co-op supermarket on your doorstep and so many great restaurants and eateries so close means we can enjoy a nice glass or two of wine with dinner and simply stroll home afterwards, or nip out to one of Broadstairs’ many fantastic fish and chip shops and make it home with them still piping hot!

A pint & a pimms in the sun in Broadstairs – nothing better

We recently enjoyed another fabulous weekend break in Broadstairs, in our beloved holiday home.

We were mixing a weekend seaside holiday break with a bit of work as we have discovered that our sun drenched bedrooms are delightful during the day but perhaps not so delightful come sunrise, so we were fitting new blackout curtains! This did have an added bonus that on our first couple of days we enjoyed an early morning, sunny alfresco breakfast in the garden.

broadstairs beach breakThis visit to our favourite seaside town we enjoyed our usual Broadstairs pastimes including a stroll along the promenade, gazing out to sea from ‘our’ seafront bench, watching the sun go down with a pint and a Pimms from the nearby Tarter Frigate (which we would highly recommend for great local seafood and fish), followed by the obligatory Morelli’s Gelato icecream on the way home!

The Victoria Gardens were stunning, all planted up with colourful flowers which brighten up the day come rain or sunshine.

We were also delighted to receive this message from one of our first guests:

“We really enjoyed our week in your lovely Broadstairs holiday flat and were very impressed with the high quality of the finish and furnishings, particularly the very comfortable bed!”

So you’ll be pleased to know we still have lots of availability for 2015 bookings in this delightful 2 bed Broadstairs holiday rental, but now we have gone live bookings are coming in fast so to avoid disappointment book your Broadstairs beach holiday in our modern holiday apartment now – contact us.

Looking forward to many more Broadstairs beach breaks in the coming months – Bring on the summer we say!
